I created these works from approximately 2010 to 2015, I started with a painting specifically designed to be cut and rearranged. I call these works “reconstructions.” Moving the parts of the cut piece allows me to try out many possible designs before I glue it to a background of a carefully chosen color or design. While the original painting is usually still evident, the work becomes more dynamic and unique when cut. My primary interest and focus is in the interplay of background and foreground colors and on creating of interesting “negative” lines and shapes. I do not know of any other artist who works in this way.
